District plan in place to make up snow days

Due to the two snow days in January put in place by the El Dorado School District, the district has decided on a snow day make-up schedule.
The first of the two make-up days was taken care of by a shorter class day this past Monday, normally a non-student contact day for teachers.
Day two will be made up by extending the school day by 30 minutes for six days in March. School will be dismissed at 3:45 p.m. on March 5-8 and 12-13. At this time, the school year is scheduled to end on May 25.
El Dorado High School Junior Trinity Herring shared her opinion about the extended days.
“I feel like extending the snow days until 3:45 is a horrible idea because lots of students have jobs, or they have outside of school activities. Also, parents have to work and it’s harder for the parents to change their schedules around,” she said.
EHS Principal Alva Reibe addressed those concerns, saying arrangements will be made for students in the co-op programs at EHS and for those who have acceptable proof of job conflicts.
