The pep rally Sweetheart Court begins Friday, February 2nd at 2:45 and is open to the public. The evening presentation of the Sweetheart Court begins at 5:50 after the JV game and before the Varsity girls game. As this Sweetheart court is intended for Valentine’s season, it is also an event designated towards EHS basketball players, just as Homecoming is intended for football players. At some point there has been debate on whether or not EHS should continue hosting this event as other schools do not participate in a Sweetheart Court. But as EHS’ Sweetheart court has been hosted for many years, it has now become an EHS tradition. Mrs. Miller explains the meaning behind the Sweetheart color scheme as the Sweethearts white dress “represents a symbol of royalty, elegance, and tradition” while pink represents “the Sweetheart Valentine theme”. As for the tuxedos, they range from 100 to 150 dollars. Senior Honor Representative, Lail Reynolds talks about her role in this year’s Sweetheart. “I feel very honored that my classmates would nominate me for this position.”
