The loss against Benton has left a bad taste in the Wildcat family’s mouth.
This week’s plan for the Wildcats centers around playing against Searcy with more sound after taking a big loss at their second home game last Friday against the Benton Panthers.
El Dorado High’s Head Football Coach Christopher Hill explained the mistakes made in last Friday’s first quarter. “We busted 3 coverages, left 3 touchdowns and we had a couple misuses of offense,” he said. Hill said the Wildcats made a big mistake last Friday by not keeping their heads in the game. “When we get in the game, we don’t lock in.”
After Hill reviewed footage with his colleagues, he realized that the boys need to trust what they’ve been coached to do and not on their public status. While Hill has a more strict insight on the previous football game, Coach Wes Ables and Coach DeAnthony Curtis are looking forward to another opportunity to showcase their talents on the field. “We need to go back to ground zero and build up the foundation,” Curtis said, pointing out that their offensive line had multiple hiccups throughout the first quarter and that they will be working on their plays with a little more discipline.
“The mindset on Monday– they seemed motivated,” Ables shed a little light on the boys’ motivation for their upcoming game against Searcy, who are currently 3-1 in the Arkansas 6A Division. Hill said the real work begins off the field at EHS. “Until we clean ourselves up, what the other team does is really irrelevant,” Hill said. He added, in order to win the game this week, the Wildcats need to bring more football IQ out on the field and trust their reads when running plays.
